Frequently Asked Questions

We know that when supporting a charity, people can have a lot of questions about who we are, what we do, how we spend money that is raised and how to get involved.

We’ve created this Frequently Asked Questions page to give clear answers to some of the questions we’re asked the most about Elsie’s Story.

If you can’t find the answer you’re looking for, we also have an Ask Us Anything page where you can do as it says – ask us anything you want! Or please get in touch with a member of the team.

Our Board of Trustees is made up of people who are passionate about helping us achieve the aims of Elsie’s Story.

The Trustees were carefully chosen based on their experience – whether that’s professional knowledge or personal values, they are all committed to supporting Elsie’s Story. They help guide the charity, oversee governance and ensure all decisions are made in the best interests of the people and communities we support.

You can find out more about the Trustees here

Our grant funding is designed to support projects, organisations and individuals that align with the aims and values of Elsie’s Story.

There are two options – apply for a corporate grant or a personal grant.

A corporate grant is when we partner with community groups, charities, and non-profits dedicated to improving lives and driving meaningful change. A personal grant is to support individuals when life feels difficult and some financial support would make all the difference.

Applications are considered based on a range of criteria around how the funding will benefit people.

Full details of application requirements can be found on our grants page.

There is a thorough and robust process to ensure that the grants we give reach the right people. All applications are reviewed carefully and at the first stage of the process, we may go back to the applicant for further information.

The grant is then presented to the full board of Trustees who look at the level of need, the difference the funding will make, how achievable the project might be and whether it aligns with our charitable objectives. Decisions are made by the Trustees every eight weeks.

Elsie’s Story primarily supports projects, people and organisations, based in the North West. However, specific funding areas may vary depending on the type of grant and who it will benefit.

We have previously given out grants to people across the UK, so if you fit our criteria, then please apply, regardless of location.

Every donation made to Elsie’s Story helps us continue supporting meaningful projects, community initiatives and people in need.

Funds raised go towards grants, charitable activities, community support and helping us create a lasting impact.

We are committed to using donations responsibly and transparently to make the greatest difference. Our grants page shows examples of previous grants we have allocated.

There are so many ways you can support Elsie’s Story. There are many events through the year that are organised by our supporters, and we would love you to attend. You can find out more details by signing up to our newsletter.

We would also be incredibly grateful if you would like to arrange an event of your own - whether it’s a cake sale, a summer ball, running a marathon for us, or anything you can think of - we would love to hear all about it. We can support your fundraising with ideas, resources and guidance to help. Please get in touch with our team to discuss your ideas.
